Please join us for three exciting cabarets at the newest cabaret room in St. Louis.

TIM SCHALL with Joe Dreyer in the composer-based show, Songs of Kander and Ebb.

SEPTEMBER 18, 19, and 21, 2008

Schall's show explores their classic hit shows Cabaret and Chicago, lesser-known gems from Zorba, The Act, 70 Girls 70, along with their original special material. He weaves stories of the songwriting team’s life and career into the show. Songs include "All that Jazz," "But the World Goes Round," "Cabaret," "Razzle Dazzle," along with early hits, "My Coloring Book" and "Ring Them Bells." Songwriter Amanda McBroom (The Rose) says, “Tim Schall sings with a voice like honey, a heart filled with emotion, and a mind that knows how to tell a story. That’s the Triple Crown.”

DEAN CHRISTOPHER accompanied by Carolbeth True in Dean Christopher: Got G.A.S? (Great American Songbook)

OCTOBER 23-26, 2008

With powerhouse composers like Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Rodgers and Hart, Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, Christopher’s show takes you through some of his favorite G.A.S. classics - popular songs from the 30’s, 40’s, & 50’s - with a style reminiscent of some of the greatest songsters in the world. Featured songs include: "The Best is Yet to Come," "As Time Goes By," "I Won’t Dance," "Night and Day" and "That’s Life." The Denver Post says, “Christopher’s slick performance is enhanced by his easygoing rapport with the audience and a seemingly natural affinity for the spotlight.”

PAMELA RECKAMP and JOHN FLACK will be performing Love Songs from American Musical Theatre, accompanied by Al Fischer.

NOVEMBER 20-23, 2008

Constructed as a journey down the path of love, it features songs from classic musical theatre composers such as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Leonard Bernstein, to contemporary composers like Jason Robert Brown, Pietro & Roberts, and Finn & Lapine. Song selection includes: "Thou Swell," "People Will Say We’re in Love," "Wonderful Guy," "One Hand-One Heart," "Stars and the Moon," and "Marriage Tango."

SPOTLIGHT T.E.E.N.

Spotlight T.E.E.N. is dedicated bringing issue-oriented, topically relevant productions to a 12 to 18 year-old audience. Productions are age-appropriate and topically relevant and highlight issues all young people deal with on a day-to-day basis. Shows are developed from interviews with teens in the Missouri DYS program, all of whom have received training in voice, movement and acting from some of St. Louis' most prolific actors.

In 2008, Spotlight T.E.E.N. offers two productions: WASTED and IN MY SHOES. WASTED (appropriate for boys) is the story of three young men whose lives are drastically changed after an act of gang violence. They are visited by the Ghost of the victim and enlightened about how their lives will proceed if they do not change their paths. Written in the metre of Shakespeare, the play includes contemporary movement, music, and slang. IN MY SHOES (appropriate for girls), tells the stories of four young women in a Division of Youth Services residential facility. We learn the situations and symptoms that brought them to a residential facility and their plans to make a change upon their release. IN MY SHOES addresses substance abuse, teen pregnancy, truancy, sexual assault and violence.

WASTED and IN MY SHOES are available to tour beginning April 1, 2008 through the end of the school year. All performances include a post-show workshop with the actors and an Educator Study Guide with curriculum in the areas of writing, multi-media projects and creative dramatics.

Fees: $170 for up to 200 students; $225 for 200 or more.

If you are interested in booking a show, please call 314-412-6848 or email spotlighttheatre@earthlink.net to check availability of dates. A deposit of $100 will hold a date and time. Upon receiving the deposit, a performance contract will be mailed out.
